The practice nurses hold various clinics and provide a full general service including family planning, smear tests, Blood pressure and diabetes clinics, health advice, help with giving up smoking and advice about immunisation and travel abroad.
The receptionists deal with enquiries, make appointments, take requests for home visits and written repeat prescription requests and try to ensure that the surgeries run smoothly. They are there to help you and will treat all information confidentially.
The midwife runs regular clinics at the Childrens Centre and will contact you soon after antenatal booking.
The district nurses visit patients at home who are unable to come to the surgery due to illness or disability. They provide nursing care and help, advice and support to patients and their carers. At present a referral needs to be made by the practice in order to access this service. We may also refer patients who need more advanced care at home for short periods of time to a Community Matron or a Rapid Response nursing service.
The health visitor does not run any clinics at our surgery. but works closely with our doctors. She works mainly with the under-fives and their parents. She advises about health care and helps with other problems, both at Elers road clinic and at home. She can also provide specialist help on behaviour or specific developmental issues. She runs a Child Health Clinic at Elers Road Clinic.
